Orientation for George Kao's Courses

Thank you for engaging with my courses!   I truly am grateful to be able to support you, my students and clients, in growing your authentic business. It’s what I love doing the most. 🤗 At the same time, since I'm (mostly) a solopreneur, I also need to keep healthy boundaries with those I'm supporting... so I hope you will keep these in mind...  Ways I dislike getting questions: Social media private messaging -- whether it's FB messaging, IG dm's, Twitter, LinkedIn etc... I really dislike getting questions through those channels because it's hard to organize messages in those places.  Kindly refrain from asking me questions via social media direct messages. Email -- I don't mind getting questions via email if it's enrollment-related: something you need to clarify before signing up for my courses or programs. If it's questions related to the content of my courses, e.g. concepts, exercises, feedback requests etc, please use one of the following methods... Ways I invite you to submit questions: Q&A calls -- this is my favorite way to engage with you and take your questions!  There, you can ask me anything 🤗 Even if you’re not clear about your question, coming to the call will likely give you inspiration and ideas! You can then ask me about specific concepts, or how to apply them to your business. We can troubleshoot what's not working, or address specific challenges you're having. You can also seek my feedback about anything including your strategy, website, content, offers, or anything else. Click here: George Kao Q&A Calls. Comments under Lessons -- if you can't come to my Q&A calls or would love to get an answer sooner, find the course (George Kao Courses) related to the topic of your question. Go there, find the related lesson, and then comment underneath. This keeps the Q&A focused on a specific topic. I'll do my best to respond to your question within a few days. Members of ABC/MasterHeart -- I'd love for you to post your questions in our private forum, so that you can receive responses from other members. Your questions will also help me prepare for the next ABC Q&A calls. Even if you can't post your questions, you can still come to the Q&A calls and ask directly. Thank you for understanding. Take a few minutes now and log into my course platform on every device where you might want to access my course materials.

Once a course page has loaded (the titles of all the lessons are listed) -- then use CMD-F (Mac) or CTRL-F (Windows) to look for the topics you're interested in.

Under every lesson in my course platform, there's a place to comment.  If you don't see a place to comment under a particular lesson, it means you're either logged out, or not yet enrolled in the course.

To make sure that the people you're replying to get notified of your comment, use the @mention feature. Watch the video above. Note that this feature isn't currently supported in the Simplero app but will be in the near future. For now, to mention others, use the web (computer) version.

When you're in a course you might wonder where is the forum or group chat for the course? The way it works in my course platform is that every lesson serves as a focused group chat on the topic of that lesson. See the video above to understand how this works. When you are viewing a lesson that interests you, scroll down to the comments area and click the bell icon and "follow everyone". That way, you'll receive an email for each comment that's made about that topic, so that you have the chance to reply if you'd like!

Some things you might want to include in your profile: A link to your website A link to a social media page/profile where you’re most active A brief description of your ideal client (or whatever you would guess about them at this stage)...  A brief description of the work you most love to do for/with your ideal client, i.e. your product/service…  How long you’ve been in business / how developed it is…  Where your growth edge currently is in business… and what area, skill, or habit  you’re leaning/growing into next… (this helps to humanize your intro, and not make it sound like a sales pitch!)  What kind of connections you’re looking for in this course community, e.g. study buddies (on what topic?), potential collaborations (any ideas?), etc. Any other personal details that are important for us to know about you? Whether privately messaging someone via email, social media DM, or mobile text, which is better... writing, audio, or video? Here's my personal rule: 1. Writing is most respectful because it's the quickest for the other person to read. 2. The more of a relationship I have with someone, the more they'll likely be patient enough to listen to my audio / watch my video message to them... yet, if it's something I'm asking for / requesting, it's still more respectful to write if possible.  3. If recording audio/video, try to keep it under 1 minute 😅 and more about sharing emotion... not information, which can be shared via writing. 4. Except if I'm volunteering help to someone / doing them a favor, then audio/video longer is fine, but aim for no more than 3 minutes unless it's really super helpful to go longer 😄 5. Another exception -- if I'm responding to a client/student on a Q&A call and it's a video that will be watched by others, then of course, going longer (as you know I do!) than 3 minutes is normal 😂 What are your feelings when receiving a private message from someone you don't know super well?  Do you prefer writing, audio, or video?  Comment and let's discuss below.  You're allowed to disagree with me 😊 (If you cannot see -- or write -- comments below, it means you're not logged in.)

You’ll have a more enjoyable (and efficient) time with your business -- and have better quality Zoom calls :) I recommend doing this: Always plug into the router, via an ethernet cable, when you’re working and especially when you attend Zoom calls. Get a long ethernet cable if you need to. I have several in the home, and it makes such a big difference. If your router is too far from where you work, such that even the long ethernet cable won’t reach it -- or if you really want to use Wifi -- then I recommend getting a powerline adapter. It magically brings your internet signal from your router to another room in your home as if you have another router there! I don’t have a recommended one, since mine is more than 10 years old, but still working well (brand: TP-Link). Click the link to see what’s popular these days: powerline adapter. Of course, it also makes sense to contact your ISP (internet service provider) and ask if they can upgrade your internet speed. You may need to pay more, but if you’ve done the above 2 things and it’s still slow, it’s probably worth upgrading.
