About Jessica
Hi! I'm a yoga teacher and in 2009 I left the studio world to create Ma Yoga, a therapeutic method of yoga designed especially for women's ever-changing bodies and lives.
I chose that name because the syllable "ma" in just about every language means mother - as in:
- Mandarin Chinese: Mãma
- Hindustani: Māṃ
- Spanish: Madre or mamá
- Arabic: Māma
- Russian: мама
- Bengali: Mā
And in Sanskrit, the language of yoga, it also means the "highest, most powerful" - as in Ma Kali, the Mother of all goddesses.
For me, this is a reminder that when we learn to turn nurturing energy inward - to mother ourselves - we open the door to our highest, most powerful and wise "Ma" Self.
I train teachers and practitioners in healing alignment, off-the-mat self-care and food-as-medicine, and prenatal yoga.
I run an online yoga studio with prenatal, postpartum, mom, and "anyone" classes, and combine Western Kinesiology and yoga with what I call Alignment Therapy.
I also offer Saturday drop-ins for people who have aches and pains, and who want a 10 minute therapeutic practice to help you feel better and support healing over time (I send you the video after). First one is free, and for this community it's always free. 😊💞
It's actually a gift to me when people come with physical challenges - anything from back pain to a discomfort in your upper arm to a funny feeling at the bottom of your foot - because the video of me teaching also goes into my training library, and other people can learn from it.
In this way, we can all learn to take healing into our own hands. 🙏
I've gotten so much out of being in George Kao's courses and community. Before I started learning from George, I had ingetrated a lot of different marketing techniques that just never felt right - and they didn't really work.
Now, I feel like my business practices are like my yoga practices: they feel more about sharing my soul, learning from challenging myself with visibility and looking at my calendar as my guru.
