Part-time roles that utilize coaching skills

Hey there. I am slowly but surely building my coaching practice from the ground up, but in the meantime, I'm looking for a source of stable income so that I can build this business from my heart instead of trying to make something happen right away so that I can pay my bills on time.

I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for part-time/contract opportunities that would be a good fit for someone who loves going deep with people one-on-one and helping them experience more peace and j…

I appreciate you starting this thread!  There are at least several others in the community who can resonate with this.

While you continue looking (lightly) for working with an organization, I also recommend simply looking at your own business as a way to get a part-time gig. In other words, spending the time/effort to do authentic outreach might actually net you clients with less effort than getting a PT job you can tolerate :)

@George Kao Thank you for participating in this thread. I had no idea you had a course specifically for authentic outreach!

Hi, @Opal Magnesium Weisbrod!

Coaching skills are extremely useful in any job where you're working with people, even the mundane ones. I suspect you'll naturally use them no matter what you're doing.

I'm wondering what ideas are occurring to you? What sounds interesting to explore? (Following those nudges will likely take you somewhere cool.)

Not sure if this will be helpful for you, but if I were looking for a regular job myself, I'd go for something HR, training or customer service related. Even retail or sales in a relational company. It's not coaching per se, but it's human connection, which you'd be great at. I did health club sales for over two years before I was a coach, and learned a lot of things that I took into business and coaching.

Good luck with your explorations!

@Stephanie Benedetto Thank you for the suggestions. I've been considering HR as well as higher education/student affairs. The biggest challenge is finding part-time roles instead of full-time ones, so that I have enough time to work on my business.

@Opal Magnesium Weisbrod I wish I could help with this one, as it is a major issue for many people who are doing these areas of service do not have an easy time of it. While I have done and continue to do coaching over the years, I am especially interested in offering spiritual direction for those on paths where they feel connected to ecospirituality. Yes, I do generate revenue in that area, though I am not sure it will be the only place where that may happen for all sorts of reasons. All this is to say that I think much of the work that George helps us do will address some of your questions and concerns.

Sorry, I could not say do this or do that for part-time work, though having left a single mind-numbing full-time job a number of years ago to work in various part-time (i.e., consulting) capacities myself, it can be done. The challenge is the more you spread out to get a guarantee of income, the more the laser-focused area of passion needs to take a back seat due to logistics and resources.

That, my friend, is the challenge that many here likely face and I look forward to hearing some words of wisdom about this!

Hello Everyone!! 😊

It's an absolute delight being here with all of you!! 🙏

I'm Mary, & I work with highly sensitive people (HSPs) as a counselor/mentor. Thus far, I've attracted/worked mostly with young women in their 20s - early 30s. I absolutely love this "demographic." My work is a beautiful fit for me because:

🌻 I am an HSP (to the Nth degree) & intuitively understand the challenges & gifts of highly sensitive souls - including the following: deeply processing just about everything (very dra…

I also work with highly sensitive young people! I'm eager to see how our unique approaches align, and also how they differ.

Hi All, I'm DeShawn :)

I've had a biz for the last 12 years while I worked full-time and raised my family. I'm a grandma, mom, friend, coach, and wife, but for the last 12 years, I have felt like a robot. I want this to change.

I have found that I've been a little walled off as I've worked. I knew I was missing something, and I feel I've found it with George and you all. I'm calling the 'it' a soul community and a place to be real. I especially love the community here and hope to find a way …

Happy to hear that you are choosing to come back to yourself. It's never too late.

ABC Intro

Hello, everyone. My name is Opal. I help highly-sensitive people find their voice and lead with confidence.

I started coaching in 2021, but I've had a lot of trouble conducting market research and finding a source of income that still leaves me enough energy to grow my business without burning out.

I am particularly passionate about mentoring young LGBTQ + people, and offering them a trauma-informed approach to enjoy more productivity, fulfillment, and connection.
