How much does Luck matter in business? 11:11
🍀 Luck... how much does it matter in business?

The video above was rambly... if you get something out of it, you're lucky 😆 let me know what you found helpful below...  ...and how lucky was it that the video length happens to be 11:11 ?? Unplanned, unexpected, difficult to repeat, just like luck 😊 This is a preview lesson and you can watch it by clicking the Play button above.  Enjoy :) To read or add comments, log in first... or if you haven't enrolled in any of my courses (to get logged-in access), check them out here.

Yes I've heard that story about the farmer.  It made me think of a song I sing in our church choir that has a line "you take what the enemy meant for evil and turn it for good."  Everything will work out in the end and if it hasn't yet, well then there's more to experience and grow through!

Jeffrey Keefer 🔤 ABC

I love the idea that ABC 2024 is like a buffet. I have trouble with buffets, as I get overwhelmed (the same in large supermarkets without a shopping list or enormous bookstores or even shopping malls!) -- the key is to consider what I want to explore right now and develop a plan.

The orientation of the course in your video is really helpful as well.

For those new to this work -- the buffet metaphor is helpful. It's far too much to do it all, or at least to try it all at once. Thus, select a little, try it out, mark what is finished as done, and then dip back in.

EM

@Jeffrey Keefer I also appreciated the buffet metaphor.  I have already been sampling from the core foundation courses.  I am following the forum and intend to plug in, share my intro, participate in comments more there soon!  I've labeled all the emails connected to this community ABC 2024.  That way when I have more time I can easily review them because it says since joining there have been about 26 emails!

2 Spiral learning 6:37
꩜ Spiral learning

Any important area of life has many (perhaps, unlimited) layers of understanding and application. This is certainly true with Joyful Productivity. Each time you return to one of the lessons, consider these 4 steps: Choose one concept, tool, or exercise from the Lesson that you're most interested to apply right now. All other ideas, put on the "back burner" for future consideration. It'll always be available to you to revisit. Choosing to apply one idea at a time will make your real-life learning more sustainable. Experiment as you apply it into your life or business. This means you're open to making "mistakes" as you try implementing the idea. Reflect on your real-life learning and implementation: add a comment underneath that particular lesson. Share your experience with the class. Ask any questions. Netcare by reading a few other comments and replying underneath them. Perhaps even reach out privately to someone to appreciate their reflection. By using these 4 steps again and again, you will spiral deeper (or higher) into your skillfulness with Joyful Productivity 👏🏽

Spiraling through for the second time this year, and the third time total. So far!

EM

@Laura Greiner that's great to read.  I am going to be spiraling through my first time.  I have done some lite joyful productivity in the past based on what @George Kao has shared in other programs or in his free content.

7 Pricing concerns 10:14
Pricing thoughts... and a qualifying question in your application.

“Struggling to believe people will want to pay me that much every month… especially if they are low income…” For some people, $300/month USD would be high. For others, it would be normal. For yet others, it would be easy/low price. This is true for many industries, not just business/marketing. Truth: you don't know and shouldn't assume their willingness to pay a sustainable rate for your program. Their spending priorities is their prerogative, not yours. Everyone has different values and financial goals, and that we should respect those choices. Still, you can help confirm their awareness of the commitment in your application. For example in my MasterHeart 2023 application there is this question that all applicants must fill out: “MasterHeart is $222 per month with a 1 year commitment -- is it a financial hardship for you?” The options they can select: “The payments ($222 USD per month x 12 months) are completely doable.” “I can easily (and would prefer to) make a single payment of $2,400 USD (save $264).” “Either option would be a financial hardship.” Nobody selects the third option, even though afterwards I find out that a few are less financially sound than I expected. Others may not have applied altogether given the clarity of the question. Pricing will act as a natural filter for those who are eager vs. not.

EM

Great video for helping shift perspective on pricing and that 20 people is a small group!  Thanks for sharing your example and letting pricing being part of the filtering process.

EM

@George Kao it's as if you read my mind with this video!  I am grateful for the clarity on knowing my next step is to approach my people via the circles of feedback.  Thank you.

2 Begin by imagining your ideal 20 3:40
Let's begin imagining your 20...

Imagine 20 people you love to work with – they enjoy your style and skills just as you are now, without you needing to change or improve anything – and you enjoy them as well. Part of this work – as all work of "authentic business" – is to practice believing in the value of your skills and presence, and stepping more into your authentic service-oriented power. Those 20 people probably already in your life/network right now. Draw them forth by writing a heartfelt description of them...  You're welcome to comment below as you tell us about them – anything you can tell us is great, their inner characteristics, outer (visible) demographics, their interests, and most importantly – why they like and trust you. And what they believe that you can support them with. No perfection needed here... just write what comes to you.  You can always update it later – and likely will :) After writing your comment, turn around and comment on 2 others' descriptions, especially if you resonate or know someone who is exactly like that! :) Just because you reply to someone's comment doesn't mean that you'll get a spot as part of their 20 ;-) but later in this course, if there's still space, and it seems aligned for the time being, they might reach out to you with a gentle invitation to play :-)

I help social impact agencies with their volunteer programs. My ideal group members would be leaders of volunteers in organizations who are making a difference in the world. They may not be able to afford one-on-one mentoring, but they would like something as close to it as they can afford. They are open to learning new things, and are willing to interact and share their own knowledge & experiences.
