Making money doing what you love is not a myth.
Today it's easier than ever to get paid to do pretty much anything.
Don't think it's possible?
Try this experiment:
- Write down 5 things you love to do (hobbies, projects at work, activities you do with friends and family, etc).
- Pick one of your favorite activities and come up with at least 5 ways you could get paid to do that thing (paid = given money, goods or services in exchange). Don't overthink it, and don't limit yourself by saying 'it's just not possible.'
Here's an example:
I love to run, and train for races.
How can I get paid for that?
- Privately coaching runners for their first marathon
- Pacing runners by running alongside them in a race
- Writing and selling individual training plans for runners
- Coaching at a high school, college, or club
- Recording guided run audios
If you come up with at least 5 ideas, there will be at least one that sparks your interest.
I've seen clients get paid from creating art, baking cookies, knitting sweaters, writing online reviews, interior design consulting, and reading screenplays.
Of course, there's no guarantee that this will lead to a full-time career or flourishing business, but it can help you imagine possibilities that will ignite your creativity and inspire you to start creating something great...and get paid for it!
When it comes to doing what you love, don't let money be the excuse that holds you back.
