Warm welcome to the Substack course.
I'm really excited to have you here.
I'm George Kao, and I would say I'm kind of a Substack beginner intermediate person.
But I'm grateful to be friends, with a couple of Substack experts who are going to come in and share with us more advanced stuff.
Now I tend to be a quite a quick learner when it comes to technology and marketing because I've been I've been, full time coaching people on marketing productivity technology since 2009.
So I pick up platforms pretty quickly, and I can kinda see the connections between them and and see the understand the algorithm maybe a little bit quicker than someone who's just beginning.
So I'm going to teach you the basics that I know, and then my, guest teachers will teach you the more advanced stuff in the next few sessions.
So I always like to begin with, the culture of a course because you can come into this course and see that it's just a bunch of random people.
And, you know, it's not as fun as if you look at this course as a community of colearning.
So I really encourage you to look at it that way.
And so what does colearning mean?
It means that not only am I teaching you things, but you're also teaching me things through your questions, through your contribution.
So I really hope that you will actively comment and on the various lessons.
If you're attending my Zoom sessions, comment on, you know, chat in Zoom.
But tell us what you're learning about Substack because I'm sure I'll learn things from you and and, my my guest teachers will learn things from you as well, I'm sure.
And, you'll learn things from each other.
Be supportive of one another.
And one of the things I like to say is comment once, reply twice.
So, you know, sometimes I see that, you know, in a particular course lesson, there's there's one lonely comment and, like, no one has replied to it, or there's several comments and, like, people are just kind of, like, talking at each other rather than talking to each other.
So whenever you see a comment in one of my course class course lessons that doesn't have a reply, think about, is there something I could say that's appreciative and, maybe helpful, as a connection to that comment.
So I hope this is helpful.

A few values to keep in mind:
- Comment once, reply twice. For each comment that you make, look for 2 other people's comments, especially those with few replies, and try to add a reply – with your encouragement and suggestions, if appropriate. This helps to balance the comment/reply ratio, making the community more like... a community :)
- Co-Learning Community. Nobody (not even the "teacher") knows everything about the topic... as we each learn from our actions in the world, we can share that learning with each other here. So let's create a co-learning environment! Even the teacher will learn from your comments :)
- Keep all sharings confidential. Let's keep this a safe space for sharing by promising to keep all comments (particularly the personal ones) confidential.
- Receive deeply what others see/feel from you, especially if you're sharing something personal. It’s a meaningful practice. It’ll help you integrate and express better your energy signature.
