As you do these exercises, particularly here in this course called authentic speaking, I want you to notice if you are feeling some resistance because, you're concerned you might forget what to say on video as you're doing the exercises.
You turn on the record button and then you maybe draw a blank or sometime during your, you know, saying something, you draw a blank, or you don't feel like you're being as professional as you as you thought you should be, you know, you're speaking unfiltered.
Is that okay?
Are you rambling?
Am I rambling right now?
This is part of the practice of authentic speaking.
Notice this course is not called perfect speaking, or you are polished and do not make any mistakes speaking.
That's not this course.
Sorry.

Oh my god.
I'd be super conscious.
I just almost said an This is not that course.
And in my view, I don't think no.
I don't I don't wanna attack Toastmasters because lots of people have benefited from it.

But that's we let's, let's caricatureize it.
Let's just let's it's not the truth, but the common, maybe misconception about Toastmasters, it's just all about counting ums and ahs and and making sure you're speaking, you know, you're in a very professional way that you have 3 points and you made all 3 points with an introduction and conclusion.

This is your fixed mindset speaking to say, I have an identity I need to confirm to feel worthy, what, of my mom or my dad?
Who who who are you feeling worthy in front of?
Sorry.
I'm getting a little too too too too too deep there.
But but no.
This is not that class.
And because most speaking classes are like that already.
Right?
This is that that's the that's not unique to most speaking classes.
What we're doing here, I think, is much more, 1, sustainable, which means you're gonna make videos for the rest of your life, and 2, I think more powerful.
Because if you're able to truly feel in your comfortable in your skin on camera with your rambling, with your mind pauses, literal pauses.
So I wanted what I wanted to really say to you today, that that might not become your best videos.
Sure.
But the point is your willingness to allow yourself to be like that on camera and to share it with us here in this course.

Remember, we're doing unlisted videos.
We're not saying your friends and family and everyone who's judging you should watch it.
No.
Remember, I said 2 encouragers.
You don't even have to show your encouragers your rambly, pausing, unfiltered videos.
That's not the point.
The point is that you the allowance of yourself to do that opens up a an ability to be authentic that you never thought was okay before.
I want you to fully accept yourself as you are, even on camera, even with the mistakes, even with the the fact that I'm boring you right now.
I don't care.
Not I don't care.
I care about you.
But this is part of the practice you see.
To allow yourself to bore your audience, to make them think you're unprofessional is the very gateway you need to walk through to become authentically powerful on camera.

So let's practice that way.
Yes.
Later in this course, I'm gonna we're gonna work on your best story and even we'll even talk about how to start and end your videos and how to remember what to say, but not yet.
Let yourself be you with your mistakes, with your imperfections because that's the gate you need to walk through to become truly powerful.
